Born in Cumberland on Dec. 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Playford Ross and Mary Craig (Atkinson) Savage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ignatius J. "Sissy" Devlin [Lonaconing] LONACONING - Estella Savage "Sissy" Devlin, 87, of Lonaconing, passed away at Egle's Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, on March 2, 2008. Born in Cumberland on Dec. 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Playford Ross and Mary Craig (Atkinson) Savage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ignatius J. Devlin, on March 17, 1974; her twin brother, Winfield Scott "Buddy" Savage, on Sept. 15, 2007; two other brothers, Russell and William; and two sisters, Eleanor Nies and Margaret Moomau. Estella was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1939, Lonaconing. She was employed in the Down-twist Department of the Celanese and was co-owner with her husband of the "Little Red" Store in Lonaconing. She enjoyed playing and teaching piano, crocheting, going for walks, and visiting with friends and relatives. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing, the Martha Circle United Methodist Women, the Adult Sunday School Class, the Morning Star Temple 1 Pythian Sisters, and the Alvin C. Neat Post 5280 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Devlin and wife Jenifer, of Lonaconing, and William J. Devlin, of Frostburg. In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren, Ryan T. Devlin and wife Julie, of Kingsville, Texas, Sean M. Devlin and wife Allison, of Keyser, W.Va., and Sara M. Devlin, of Kings Point, N.Y.; a sister, Marie Riley, of Frostburg; a sister-in-law, Bernadette (Devlin) Brown; and numerous cousins; nieces, and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Wednesday, March 5, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Morning Star Temple 1 Pythian Sisters will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of her life and the resurrection of Jesus Christ will be held in the First United Methodist Church, Church St., in Lonaconing at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, with the Rev. Andrew Droll officiating. Interment will be held in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Lonaconing. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the past and present staff of Egle's Nursing and Rehab Center, where she has resided for nearly seven years. Many caring and loving individuals assisted her through the years.
