SPAULDING TAKEN BY DEATH Death Occurred Suddenly Friday —Services Held Monday—Business Houses Were Closed Death summoned Mrs. Grover Spaulding Friday morning of last week just a few moments after she was admitted to the Decatur County Hospital. Although Mrs. Spaulding had been in falling health and under doctor's care for some time, her passing came as a shock to her family and friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Coliseum with her pastor D. Blair Jensen as the officiating minister with Walter Hayes assisting. All business houses of Lamoni were closed during the funeral hour out of respect for their fellow businessman and due to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Many and beautiful floral offerings expressed silent messages of condolence and love from the friends of the family. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. J. H. Anthony, Mrs. Arthur Derry, Mrs. Helen Walters, and Miss Faye Butts. Pallbearers included Paul Roberts, Clarence Allen, Ralph Silver, Leo Dehner, J. W. Barr, and Bud Downey. Mrs. Spaulding, accompanied by her husband, had recently returned from Independence, Missouri, where specialists had been consulted regarding Mrs. Spaulding's physical condition For the following several days she remained on a very strict diet and remained in bed. On Friday, she was taken critically iII and rushed to the hospital in White's ambulance. A message telling of her death reached Lamoni before the return of the ambulance. The deceased was well known throughout the surrounding towns and countryside, as for many years she was employed in Fleets store. The past four years she has been associated with her husband at the College Inn where her ability of meeting and making friends with the public was further demonstrated. Stella Glynn Spaulding was born June 29, 1891, in Harrison County, Missouri near Cainsville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bandy. She attended public school in Lamoni and was graduated from the local high school. She later enrolled at Graceland College where she studied music. When only a child she was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was numbered among the sincere and loyal members of the Lamoni branch. On August 5, 1932, she was united in marriage to Grover Spaulding, and although her wedded life consisted of slightly less than five years, it brought to the contracting couple complete joy and much happiness. Mrs. Spaulding is survived by her devoted husband, her mother Mrs. Laura Bandy, her sister Ethel, and her brother Earl. The father, two sisters, Ruth and Goldie, and a brother Carl preceeded her. Through the faith that is their's, the family is consoled with the firm belief that she will receive her reward the fruits of a righteous life .
