Description	:	The death of Mrs. Estella Isabelle Shirtz (nee Casteel) occurred in the Witham Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana, Friday afternoon, after an illness of eight weeks. The cause of her death was complicated troubles, from which she had been in declining health for many moths. The deceased was born in Redman, Illinois, November 27, 1869; she was 69 years of age. Read More	The death of Mrs. Estella Isabelle Shirtz (nee Casteel) occurred in the Witham Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana, Friday afternoon, after an illness of eight weeks. The cause of her death was complicated troubles, from which she had been in declining health for many moths. The deceased was born in Redman, Illinois, November 27, 1869; she was 69 years of age. She was the daughter of James and Martha Casteel. January 15, 1885 she was united in marriage to Albert Shirtz of Scotland, Indiana. During their young married life they resided in Redman, Janesville, and Shiloh, Illinois, before coming to Pulaski county, Indiana in 1896. At Shiloh they lived in the house for a long time occupied by the Thomas Lincolns, parents of Abraham Lincoln. Their home overlooked, from the hillside, the Shiloh church, which Lincoln attended and adjacent to the cemetery the Lincolns are buried. To Albert and Stella Shirtz were born nine children. Those living are: James and Kenneth Shirtz, Detroit; Paul Shirtz, Plymouth; Mrs. Winifred Dalton, Champaign; and Mrs. Valera Byrd of Francesville. She leaves a sister, Mrs. Gladys Kopka, Francesville, and a brother, Paul Casteel, Kankakee. There are seventeen grandchildren, one of whom, Rexford, they raised from infancy. There are four great grandchildren. The deceased children are Jessie, Edgar, Helen and Rexford, a veteran of the World's War. Mrs. Shirtz was a member of the Christian church for more than a half century, and was a member of the Royal Neighbors lodge of this place. The funeral was held Monday afternoon in he home of her daughter, Mrs. Valera Byrd, Rev. Elwood Dunn of Medaryville officiating. Burial was made in Roseland cemetery, east of town.
