She was the daughter of James P. and Philana Hardin. She had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 13 years and was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church. At the time of her death, her home was at 514 Boone Avenue in Ottumwa, and she died at the St. Joseph Hospital. Esther was survived by two sons, O.E. McCoy of Ottumwa and Burton McCoy of Batavia Route 2; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Thompson of rural Muscatine; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.
