Esther was born December 24, 1899, south of Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Hartwig and Mary (Rabe) Neubaum. As a young child she moved with her parents to a farm south of Ute, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Rudolph Albertsen on October 12, 1920 in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple farmed near Mapleton. In 1944 the couple moved north of Smithland. In 1960 the couple moved into Mapleton. Her beloved husband died on October 9, 1985. Esther was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ and t he Women's Fellowship of the church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Stodden of Mapleton; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great- grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Fish of Canton, South Dakota , Clara Carritt of Ute and Ruth Outhouse of Woodbine, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons , Loren and Willis, one son-in-law, Fred Stodden, two grandsons , two great-grandsons, one brother and one sister.
