She was born on March 28th, 1911, in a small farmhouse near Beattie, Kansas, the daughter of John Godfried and Alma Sofia Anderson. Esther was one of seven children (Elmer Anderson, Elizabeth Campbell, Viola Goins, Jennie Kupfersmith, Ann Jones, and Caryl Toedter). All have preceded her in death. Read More	Esther Ellen Sofia Anderson Wetzler passed away at Cambridge Place on Friday, December 7, 2012 during her 102nd year on this earth. She was born on March 28th, 1911, in a small farmhouse near Beattie, Kansas, the daughter of John Godfried and Alma Sofia Anderson. Esther was one of seven children (Elmer Anderson, Elizabeth Campbell, Viola Goins, Jennie Kupfersmith, Ann Jones, and Caryl Toedter). All have preceded her in death. She married Charles Wetzler in 1936. Charles died in 1973 after a long battle with multiple schlerosis. She is survived by her son, Charles (wife Barbara) of Overland Park, Kansas; her son Richard (wife Cheryl) of Leawood, Kansas ; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One of her nieces, Mrs. Arthur Little (Shirley) and one of her nephews, Norman Severns, live in Marysville. Her parents and two of her six siblings were immigrants from Sweden who came to Kansas by way of Ellis Island. Esther remembered speaking Swedish in the home as a child. She also remembered driving a horse and buggy to Beattie high school. After graduating from high school, she taught at several one room schools in the Beattie area. She talked about attending the World`s Fair in Chicago in 1933. She and her husband, Charles, lived in Beattie until 1945 when they moved to Marysville. Charles operated an oil and gas business in Marysville, sold insurance and served one term as Marshall County Clerk. Esther was a homemaker, wife, mother and gardener. She was a caring and gentle soul whose greatest passions were her faith and her family. She maintained daily Christian devotions and studied the Bible each day. She lived her life through the lessons learned from her faith, which she passed on to her two sons. When her husband became disabled from multiple sclerosis in 1970, she took a job as a cook at the Marysville Community Hospital. Esther continued to support her family until she retired at age 65. Esther was active in and a lifetime member of the Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Just A Mere Study Club and a lively pinochle club. Esther resided in her home in Marysville until 2007 when she moved to Country Place Senior Living. She enjoyed her stay in Country Place and made many friends. Esther resided in Cambridge Place the last seven months. She and her family greatly appreciate the loving and caring staff of both facilities. There will be a visitation at the United Methodist Church in Marysville on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 12:30 PM. The funeral will commence at 1:30 PM followed by an interment in the Marysville Cemetery.
