Esther was born on August 26, 1918 in Ponca, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Pearl (Killian) Richardson. She was raised in Ponca, Nebraska, graduating from the Ponca High School in 1935. Esther then attended Teacher's College at Wayne, Nebraska where she received her teaching certificate and later University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Read More	daughter of William and Pearl (Killian) Richardson Esther Elnora Hinds, age 95, of Waverly, died Sunday, August 24, 2014, at the Shell Rock Healthcare Center in Shell Rock. Esther was born on August 26, 1918 in Ponca, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Pearl (Killian) Richardson. She was raised in Ponca, Nebraska, graduating from the Ponca High School in 1935. Esther then attended Teacher's College at Wayne, Nebraska where she received her teaching certificate and later University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She then taught country school for one year in the sand hills of Nebraska near Valentine. On July 17, 1937, Esther was united in marriage to Del Hinds in Waterloo, Iowa. The couple made their home in Waterloo for a short time before moving to Hamilton, Ohio, where Del worked as a civilian naval inspector and Esther began her career as a homemaker. Three years later they returned to Waterloo and in 1948 moved to Waverly. In 1968, they began development the Hinds Sub-Division north of Waverly where she resided until 2010 when she moved to assisted living in Cedar Falls. Esther was a past member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Waverly and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, traveling, and fishing. Esther is survived by one son, Stephen D. Hinds of Waverly; one daughter, Suzan (Jerry) Teigen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren, Desiree Clark, Monique Brown, Anthony Teigen, Leslie Hinds, and Jayme Tiegen; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Delmar; and a brother, Glen Richardson. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Teddy Widdel officiating. Burial will follow at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral home in Waverly where the family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer Association.
