Friends are encouraged to sign the online register book and give their condolences at www.fulkersons.com Esther Ingaborg Martin was born Feb. 2, 1918, to Anton and Anna (Torgeson) Gustafson on the family farm in Elsworth Township, south of Arnegard. Esther attended Roalsvig School and was baptized and confirmed at the Zoar Lutheran Church. On July 22, 1939, Esther married Harold Martin of Rawson at the Arnegard Parsonage. Harold was employed in different jobs around the area. They worked and lived on a farm near Spring Brook, where Harold was employed by Charlie Fay for many years. Esther's dad, Anton, lived with them for several years. Harold passed away in April 2003 and Esther continued to live in her own home until October 2004, when she entered the Bethel Lutheran Home. Esther was a very good cook and baker. When it came to making lefsa and cooking lutefisk, she was the best. She always had the coffee pot on and homemade pie was her treat. Her home was filled with flowers and plants. Her favorite hobbies were embroidery, crocheting, quilting and puzzles. She also enjoyed playing bingo and whist. She will be greatly missed by her five nieces, Darlene Stevens of Watford City, Cecelia Otteson of Minot, Karen Heggen of Davenport, N.D., Noreen VanNurden of Longview, Wash., and Sandy Kurry of Medford, Ore.; nephews, Ray and Roy Berquist of Watford City and nephew-in-law, David Martin of Kouts, Ind.. Preceding Esther in death were her parents; husband, Harold; sister, Dagny Berquist and brothers, Oscar, Gustav and Leonard. Friends may sign a register book on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fulkerson Funeral Home, Williston, and an hour prior to services at the Bethel Lutheran Home Chapel on Tuesday.
