Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 5, at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Williston. The Rev. Morris Kirchhof and the Rev. Dean Arbs will officiate and interment will follow at Rawson Cemetery in Rawson. Harold Martin was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Miles City, Mont., to Leif and Mamie (McCormick) Martin. At the age of 6, he lost his mother in the 1918 flu pandemic. He then came to Rawson to be raised by his grandparents, where he also attended school. As a young man Harold worked in the C.C.C. Harold was united in marriage with Esther Gustafson on July 22, 1939. During their early married life, Harold worked on road construction. He and Esther bought a mobile home and moved it wherever the road work was. Harold also trucked water to various oil wells about this time. They later moved to Springbrook, where Harold farmed for about 11 years. He later was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for about 12 years, running the Star Route from Williston to Watford City. After retiring from the route, Harold stayed available as a substitute carrier for many years. Harold enjoyed watching baseball and basketball games on television. He was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church and the Williston Odd Fellows Lodge for 55 years. Surviving Harold are his wife, Esther, of Williston; a nephew, David Martin of Kouts, Ind.; two cousins, Mavis O'Neill of Great Falls, Mont., and Junamae Clancy of Miles City; and several great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Morris Martin. Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the Everson Funeral Home in Williston and for an hour before services Monday at the church
