Description	:	Esther Miller, 94, of Plankinton, SD passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD. Esther Karen Marie Sorensen was born on August 31, 1917 to Juul and Inger (Christiansen) Sorensen on a farm in rural Stickney, SD. She graduated from Plankinton High School and went on to take part in the National Youth Administration (NYA) occupational program in Sioux Falls, SD. Read More	Esther Miller, 94, of Plankinton, SD passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD. Esther Karen Marie Sorensen was born on August 31, 1917 to Juul and Inger (Christiansen) Sorensen on a farm in rural Stickney, SD. She graduated from Plankinton High School and went on to take part in the National Youth Administration (NYA) occupational program in Sioux Falls, SD. On October 6, 1940 she was united in marriage to Arnold "Arnie" Miller at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Plankinton. Together they farmed on the Miller homestead, Esther took pride in being a homemaker, raising their three daughters and helping out on the farm. After retiring in 1974, they became residents of Plankinton, SD. Esther was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and participated in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), holding many offices throughout the years. For 17 years she and Arnold drove the Hopper School bus. Esther belonged to Extension Club and was involved in Bridge Clubs with family and friends. She could be found watching baseball cheering for the Braves, enjoyed bowling and was always ready for a game of cards with family and friends. She had a fondness for travel and made many trips to California to visit Arnold's sisters and later, her daughter Julie. Esther was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother whose home was always open. Grateful for having shared in Esther's life: her 3 daughters: Karen Weich (Ron) of Huron, SD, Kayleen Weich (Bob) of Plankinton, SD and Julie Petersen (Roger) of Billings, MT; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren: Troy Weich (Michele), Alicia and Jessica; Kristen Feeser (Justin), Garrett, Gavin and Gabe; Chris Weich (Erika), Lila; Scott Weich (Becky), Jaron, Jenna and Carsyn; Tara Petersen and Kyle Petersen; 2 sisters: Erna Gallup (Clayton) of Spearfish, SD and Mildred Weniger (Syl) of Plankinton, SD; a brother, Elmer Sorensen of Plankinton, SD; a sister-in-law, Peggy Miller of Mitchell, SD; along with several nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by: her husband of 64 years, Arnold (Sept. 28, 2004); her parents; 2 brothers: Bob and Frank Sorensen and 2 sisters: Betty Heezen and Lorraine Capps.
