Knox, in Oneida, Iowa, Saturday, June 21, 1913, after an illness lasting nearly one year, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 19 days. Esther Lowe Gerry was born in Robbinston, Maine, August 2, 1836. She was married at Robbbinston, on September 27, 1853, to Amaziah Nash and came west with her husband in 1857 and settled at Hopkinton, Iowa. Knox, in Oneida, Iowa, Saturday, June 21, 1913, after an illness lasting nearly one year, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 19 days. Esther Lowe Gerry was born in Robbinston, Maine, August 2, 1836. She was married at Robbbinston, on September 27, 1853, to Amaziah Nash and came west with her husband in 1857 and settled at Hopkinton, Iowa. To this union were born seven children, four of whom are now living to mourn their loss; George W. Nash of Mexico, Missouri, Everett C. Nash of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Alexander S. Wilson of Kodia Kanal, India, and Mrs. Samuel T. Knox of Oneida, Iowa. Mr. Nash died at Hopkinton on January 29, 1873, where Mrs. Nash remained with her children until October 20, 1881, when she was married to Albert C. Tucker and moved to Dubuque county, In 1891 she moved to Coggon, Iowa, where she made her home until the death of her husband in 1906, after which time she lived with her daughter at Oneida. Ester Gerry united with the Congregational church when a young girl, transferring her membership to the Presbyterian church upon coming to Hopkinton. Upon moving to Oneida she united with the Methodist Episcopal church, there being no Presbyterian church there. She was a daughter of Judge Seth Gerry and Mary Stetson Gerry of Robbinston, Maine, a lineal descendant of Elbridge Gerry, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and vice president of the United States, and a cousin of the evangelist singer P. P. Bliss. Funeral services were held Monday, June 23, at Oneida and also at Hopkinton where interment was made in the family burying lot in the Hopkinton cemetery.
