Obituaries - Esther Wilkinson was an avid quilter Esther Wilkinson was born April 5, 1907 to Ulysses and Grace (Jackson) Cushing at Stratton, Nebr., and passed from this life March 28, 1988 at Great Plains Medical Center in North Platte. She spent most of her life in the Stratton area. She was married to Jesse Edward Wilkinson on March 12, 1925. To this union was born four children, Calvin Lee, Doug, Ellis and Twila. She was a member of the First Christian Church and a life-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit of William Egle Post No. 218. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed doing crafts. She made quilts for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969, also two sisters, Avis and Belle, three brothers, Ira, Harry and Floyd. She leaves to mourn: four children and three daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, her brother, Wayne and a host of friends and relatives. She will be greatly missed by all. Services were held Friday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Christian Union Church of Stratton. The Rev. Philip Sorensen officiated and Beverly Henderson served as the organist. Wallace Gummere soloist sang two selections: "How Great Thou Art" and "Rock of Ages". Pallbearers were Robert Wilkinson, Bill Brynoff, Gary Wilkinson, John Wilkinson, Jim Wilkinson, Tom Wilkinson, Jesse Wilkinson and Ron Brynoff. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Stratton.
