Description	:	Esther Mae (Gerloff) Collins Esther Mae Else Frieda (Gerloff) Collins, 89, of Snohomish, died February 15, 2016. She was born in Shiner, Texas to Otto E. and Ella (Brunkenhoefer) Gerloff on September 13, 1926. Esther worked at a variety of jobs throughout her life, mostly utilizing her sewing skills. She sewed draperies, cloth gift baskets, and after her youngest was born, and using him as her model, she designed and sewed baby blankets and baby clothes in her own baby blanket business called The HoneyBear Company. Read More	Esther Mae (Gerloff) Collins Esther Mae Else Frieda (Gerloff) Collins, 89, of Snohomish, died February 15, 2016. She was born in Shiner, Texas to Otto E. and Ella (Brunkenhoefer) Gerloff on September 13, 1926. Esther worked at a variety of jobs throughout her life, mostly utilizing her sewing skills. She sewed draperies, cloth gift baskets, and after her youngest was born, and using him as her model, she designed and sewed baby blankets and baby clothes in her own baby blanket business called The HoneyBear Company. She continued her sewing passion until she was 88. Those later years she volunteered with the Trinity Lutheran Church Quilting Committee, making beautiful quilt tops that were made into quilts and sent to those in need. Esther was creative by nature and spent several years painting landscapes and still lifes, some of which sold. To care for her family well, she spent lots of summers and falls canning fruits, meats and vegetables, the vegetables coming from the family garden she and Howard cultivated most years. Her children remember the daunting task of having to weed the acre garden that was cultivated soon after she and Howard were married. Esther also volunteered for the Enumclaw and Buckley Senior Centers. Esther loved participating in the Pinochle games at the Senior Centers. Esther enjoyed her family, her friends, and especially her grand and great grandchildren. Esther is survived by her daughters, Alice Buehring and husband Monroe of Gold Bar, WA, Phyllis Maks of Charlo, MT, and son James Gray III and wife Julie of Lewiston, ID, stepson, Tom Collins and wife Debbie of Lopez Island, WA; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Howard E. Collins, her parents Otto and Ella Gerloff, her sisters Elvera Nelson and Elnora Buehring, and daughter Lois Strohm. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1535 Washington Ave., Enumclaw, WA 98022, American Heart Association, 710 2nd Ave. #900, Seattle, WA 98104, or Alzheimer's Association, P O Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. Viewing will be available from 4 to 8 PM on Friday 2/26 at Weeks Funeral Home, 1810 Wells St, Enumclaw, WA 98022. Funeral services and reception for both Esther Mae and her husband Howard E. Collins, who died on January 6, 2016, will be held together at noon on Saturday, February 27th, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1535 Washington Ave., Enumclaw, WA 98022.
