Description	:	PITTSBURG — Esther Marie Fox, 93, of Pittsburg, passed away peacefully at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan. Esther was born June 4, 1919, at Walnut, Kan., the daughter of John and Francis (Frankie) O'Rielly George. On Oct. 24, 1939, she was united in marriage to W.J. "Red" Fox. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2001. Esther worked alongside Red to establish their heavy equipment business in 1945 known as W.J. Read More	PITTSBURG — Esther Marie Fox, 93, of Pittsburg, passed away peacefully at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan. Esther was born June 4, 1919, at Walnut, Kan., the daughter of John and Francis (Frankie) O'Rielly George. On Oct. 24, 1939, she was united in marriage to W.J. "Red" Fox. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2001. Esther worked alongside Red to establish their heavy equipment business in 1945 known as W.J. "Red" Fox Construction and then later on the Fox Recreation Area. She was very active in many organizations especially her church life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, Kan. She loved living life on her strip pits. She enjoyed playing cards and the outdoors, and riding her 4-wheeler. She was able to remain living in her on home until entering the hospital early Friday morning. Survivors include a son, Ed and Karen Fox, of Girard; a daughter, Peggy and Howard Brodie of Pittsburg; grandchildren Michelle and Bob Moody of Pittsburg, Leslie and Roy Kirkpatrick of Fair Grove, Mo., Willie and Becky Wheeler of Liberal, Mo., Jenni and Doug Diskin of Pittsburg, Eddie J. and Gayla Fox of Girard, and LeeAnn Brodie of Topeka, Kan.; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Katrina Brodie-Arehart; a great granddaughter, Ashley Wheeler; four brothers, Joe Vince, Phil and Chris George; and two sisters, Margaret Baine and Jennie Gower. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac with Father Thomas Stroot as the celebrant. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, where the family will receive friends following the rosary until 7:30 p.m. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma. The family suggests memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Ronald McDonald House of Joplin, Mo. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, KS 66712.
