By Pete Steele. Mrs. William W. Crain, 26, better remembered in Chico as Miss Esther Reusser, died last evening at 6 o'clock at the Enloe hospital where she had been confined since Tuesday. Born in Amherst, Ohio, February 12, 1900, Mrs. Crain came to Chico 15 years ago. Receiving practically all her education in the local school she was graduated from the Teachers college and at once secured a position as teacher in the Oakdale school, where she was beloved by teachers and pupils alike. Later she taught in Gridley. Here she met William W. Crain, to whom she was married July 12, 1924. During her residence in Chico Mrs. Crain, then Miss Reusser, was prominent in the work of the First Methodist church and was extremely popular among the members of the Epworth league in which she held prominent positions. Aside from the husband, who is a member of the local Legion post and is an employee of the Pacific Gas and Electric company at Stanislaus, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Rose Reusser; two sisters, Hulda A. and Laura Ruth and a brother, William N. Reusser. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the First Methodist church, the Rev. N.A. Christensen, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be made in the Chico cemetery. Meanwhile, lying in a beautiful casket in the Westfall funeral home, with Marjorie, the two-day-old daughter, who preceded her in death only a few hours nestled in her arms, the diminutive form of Esther Reusser Crain is a pitiful monument to the potentiality that has made the awful sacrifice in motherhood a reality and has made Mothers Day the most universally observed occasion throughout the world. ~~~ 26-year-old Esther Reusse Crain was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on May 12, 1926.
