Description	:	Esther V. Kleinschmidt, 93, a lifelong resident of rural Herington, died Wednesday, March 5th, 2014, at the Medicalodges of Herington. She was born Friday, June 25, 1920, on a farm near Hope the daughter of Otto and Laurena (Herpich) Schlesener. Her father Otto died when Esther was a small infant, then raised by her step-father Walter and mother Laurena Schlesener. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, March 10th, 2014, at the St. John's Lutheran Church (Lyons Creek), Herington, with Rev. Justin Panzer officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7:00pm Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel. Mrs. Kleinschmidt was a farm wife. She was a lifetime member of the St. John's Lutheran Church (Lyons Creek); and a faithful member of the church. She enjoyed needle point and making quilts. Married Clemens Kleinschmidt at Wichita, September 14, 1942; and he preceded in death on August 29, 1982. She is also preceded in death by her half-brother Orville Schlesener, on November 23, 1998; and her parents. Survived by two (2) daughters: Rosa Jones (husband-John) of Manhattan, and Marjorie Thacker (husband-Barry) of Herington; two (2) sons: Jerry Kleinschmidt, and Dale Kleinschmidt both of Herington; eight (8) grandchildren; and eight (8) great-grandchildren. Memorials to the Herington Hospital Auxiliary or the St. John's Lutheran Church (Lyons Creek); and they may be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, 404 S.
