Peters, 82, of 12612 Kober Road, La Porte City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday afternoon May 6, 1997, at Sunnycrest Nursing Center, Dysart, of natural causes. Ethel was born Jan. 12, 1915, in rural Tama county, Iowa, the daughter of Frank B. and Ella B. Ryan Nutt. She graduated from Geneseo High School in Buckingham, Iowa, in 1932, and then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo and graduated from Cedar Rapids Business College in March of 1935. Peters, 82, of 12612 Kober Road, La Porte City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday afternoon May 6, 1997, at Sunnycrest Nursing Center, Dysart, of natural causes. Ethel was born Jan. 12, 1915, in rural Tama county, Iowa, the daughter of Frank B. and Ella B. Ryan Nutt. She graduated from Geneseo High School in Buckingham, Iowa, in 1932, and then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo and graduated from Cedar Rapids Business College in March of 1935. She was employed at Chandlers in Cedar Rapids for two years and then at La Porte City State Bank for nine years from 1935 to 1946. Ethel was united in marriage to Henry W. Peters Jr. on June 3, 1942, at Kahoka, Missouri. She and her husband farmed in the Independence and La Porte City area until retiring and moving to La Porte City in September of 1988. Henry passed away April 23, 1993. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Joy Circle of the United Methodist Women, Thistle Rebekah Lodge #261, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Axillary, and a potluck group. Survivors include a son Dennis Peters of Steamboat Rock, and a daughter Kathleen Peters of La Porte City; two grandsons, Bill and Bob Peters; and a sister, Frances Anderson, La Porte City. She was preceded by her parents, her husband Henry Jr., and two brothers, Frank and John Nutt. Services: 2 P.M. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. today at Huisman Funeral Home, La Porte City, and an hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church.
