Nieveen, 89 years of age, of Adams passed away at the Gold Crest Retirement Center Monday evening, April 23, 2018. She was born on March 30, 1929 at Holland, NE to John and Jennie (Schoonveld) Prange. She was a graduate of Panama High School, Panama, NE and received a teacher's certificate from Peru State Teachers College. Ethel married Dale H. Nieveen on November 7, 1952 at Holland, NE. Ethel was a teacher at a country school near Hickman, NE and cleaned homes in Lincoln. She was a member of the Pella Reformed Church near Adams and had taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and a member of the Pella Women's Ministries. She also had been a member of the Adams American Legion Auxiliary. Ethel enjoyed baking, playing cards, being outside, attending grandchildren's activities, supported Adams and Freeman High School at ball games, and collected thimbles. Survivors include 2 sons, Russel (Diane) Nieveen of Adams and Doug (Sandy) Nieveen of Firth; 5 grandchildren Justin (Julie) Nieveen, Nathan (Karen) Nieveen, Anissa Nieveen (fiancé Justin Dysart), Trevor (Paty) Nieveen, and Ashton (Evan) Egger; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Irma Essink and Betty (Wes) Matthes, all of Holland; sister in law Judy Prange of Lincoln. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents John and Jennie (Schoonveld) Prange; husband Dale (2011); sister Mildred (Gerald) Wubbels; brother Ervin "Jake" Prange; and brother in law Irvin Essink. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Pella Reformed Church near Adams with Pastor T.J. South officiating. Interment will be at 10:15 AM Thursday at the Pella Cemetery. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 1-9:00 PM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams with the family greeting friends from 6-8:00, and not at the church.
