Description	:	GREENVILLE, N.C. — Ethel Iris Lucht, 105, of Greenville, N.C., beloved family matriarch, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Spring Arbor of Greenville. A private family celebration of her life will be at a later date. Mrs. Lucht was born on Nov. 3, 1908, at the Bucy Farm in Cushing to Charley and Myrtle Bucy Cook. Read More	GREENVILLE, N.C. — Ethel Iris Lucht, 105, of Greenville, N.C., beloved family matriarch, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Spring Arbor of Greenville. A private family celebration of her life will be at a later date. Mrs. Lucht was born on Nov. 3, 1908, at the Bucy Farm in Cushing to Charley and Myrtle Bucy Cook. She married Floyd Lucht on Dec. 26, 1930, in Grand Island. He preceded her in death. Survivors of the immediate family include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard Lucht of Greenville, N.C., and Carroll Lucht and his wife, Janice Labas-Lucht, of Killingworth, Conn.; one brother, Roland Cook of Longmont, Colo.; and one sister, Hazel Del Murray of Lake Almanor, Calif. Also surviving are four granddaughters, Beth Lucht, Jennifer Lucht, Mollie Melbourne and Shelley Lucht; four great-grandsons; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Earl Cook, Lloyd Cook and Wayne Cook; and sister, Eleanor Margaret Cook. She lived most of her life in Grand Island until moving to Greenville in the early 1970s. Ethel's long life centered on family, near and far. She traveled frequently to be with those in her large extended family, sharing stories from her experiences in rural Nebraska as the oldest girl of seven children, as a midwife caring for scores of young women and of her work in plants during World War II, stories all told with a huge heart and hearty laugh, connecting the family generations. She also told the stories of other family members as she visited homes and reunions and helped develop ancestry records, and she always left the memory of warm cinnamon rolls and fried chicken. Those who knew her will miss her and thank her for the deep sense of roots she leaves.
