Description	:	Services for Ethel E. Hoover, 89, Overbrook, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Overbrook. Burial will be in Overbrook Cemetery. Mrs. Hoover, formerly of Sebring, Fla., died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Brookside Manor Nursing Home in Overbrook. She was born Nov. 9, 1908, on a farm near Hardin, Mo., the daughter of Jess and Maggie Mason Early. She attended elementary and high school at rural schools near Hardin, Mo. Mrs. Hoover, formerly of Sebring, Fla., died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Brookside Manor Nursing Home in Overbrook. She was born Nov. 9, 1908, on a farm near Hardin, Mo., the daughter of Jess and Maggie Mason Early. She attended elementary and high school at rural schools near Hardin, Mo. She graduated from McPherson College in Kansas with a bachelor of science degree. She later received a master's degree in education from the University of Wyoming. She taught school in Kansas for 25 years. She married Murlin Hoover on June 4, 1931, in Overbrook. He died March 8, 1995. After their retirement in 1973, they moved from Topeka to New Windsor, Md., where they joined the Brethren Volunteer Service, serving for 13 years. In 1986 they moved to the Sebring Palms Retirement Community, where they were active in the Church of the Brethren and Palms of Sebring. Mrs. Hoover moved to the Brookside Manor in Overbrook on Jan. 28, after her health began to fail. She was a member of the Sebring Church of the Brethren, where she served as president of the church women's fellowship for seven years. She was a leader in 4-H and Girl Scouts for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Bryson, Overbrook; a son, Duane Hoover, Blue Springs, Mo.; two brothers, Loyd Early, Richmond, Mo., and Harold Early, Kansas City, Mo; three sisters, Grace Miller, Lenard, Mo., Vera Williams, Richmond, Mo., and Ruth Early, Sebring, Fla; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
