Born Jan. 8, 1922, in Chico, Calif., she was the daughter of George Finley and Martha Adaline Shephard Michael. She lived in California until she was around one year of age, then her parents moved north of Cohagen to the Greer place. Read More	Ethel Juanita Michael Morton, 82, of Forsyth, passed away on Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth. Born Jan. 8, 1922, in Chico, Calif., she was the daughter of George Finley and Martha Adaline Shephard Michael. She lived in California until she was around one year of age, then her parents moved north of Cohagen to the Greer place. She lived there until her family moved to the homestead place 26 miles north of Cohagen. When she was two or three years of age they moved to the Sevenson place. She returned to the homestead at five years of age and lived there until they moved to the Davis place, which they purchased. Her father died in 1933 at the age of 53. Mrs. Morton was 10 years old. From the Davis place she walked six miles to school in Cohagen. Her mother remarried in 1934 to Carl Wedell and Mrs. Morton went to a country school 1/2 mile away called Red Horse. She attended school there until she started high school in Cohagen and lived in a dormitory and worked in the kitchen for three years. Her sophomore summer she babysat for the Bloom family 10 miles out of Cohagen and took care of two boys. Their mother was an invalid. The summer of her junior, senior year she was head cook at the Collins Ranch near Forsyth. She returned to high school and on Sept. 30, 1939, she and Wilbur Dury Morton were married in Miles City at the Methodist minister's manse. She lived in Miles City and worked at a caf and did laundry. She had a daughter, Harriet in 1940. In 1941 she moved to Thrlow valley where she and her husband raised Harriet Jean, Lenetta Lettena, Sandra Mureen and Karen Rena. The family moved to Sand Creek in 1946 where they lived until 1948 when they purchased a farm at Thrlow. Pamela Vanetta was born in 1949 and Cynthia Darlene was born in 1954. In 1960, they moved to Glasgow on a new adventure. They operated the Glasgow Airport. In 1962 they returned to the farm at Thrlow for a short time. In 1963 they moved to Jordan. In 1965 they moved to the Fairview Ranch at Melville. In 1966 they moved to Prescott, Ariz., and bought a bakery. In 1967 they moved back to Montana and worked for Bill Frazer at Gray Cliff and Mrs. Morton worked at the post office in Gray Cliff as a PTF. In 1968 they move into Big Timber where Mrs. Morton worked at Sawyers, Ben Franklin, and the Sweetgrass Nursing Home. In 1999, Mr. and Mrs. Morton moved into Billings. Mrs. Morton enjoyed crafts, crocheting, reading and playing cards. She thanked God every day for her extended life. Her family always came first in her life. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth. Burial will be in the Forsyth Cemetery.
