She passed with grace, surrounded by love, with family by her side, on Saturday, October 30, 2010. A lifelong resident of the Wenatchee Valley, the roots of her family tree run deep and her branches spread far and wide. She was raised on the Marr Homestead, with two brothers and three sisters. Read More	Wenatchee World - Wednesday, November 3, 2010 Ethel Lillian (Marr) Turnipseed was born February 8, 1922, to parents, Wilbur Guilford Marr and Zella Adelia (Zimmerman) Marr. She passed with grace, surrounded by love, with family by her side, on Saturday, October 30, 2010. A lifelong resident of the Wenatchee Valley, the roots of her family tree run deep and her branches spread far and wide. She was raised on the Marr Homestead, with two brothers and three sisters. She graduated Wenatchee High School in May 1940. On March 30, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Tim Turnipseed. Together, they raised five daughters, endearingly called "The Turnipseed Girls." She was a pillar and foundation for the family she cherished and loved. Every pie baked, every jar of jam made and every Sunday dinner prepared, was a labor of love for those who mattered most to her... Her Family. She held various jobs, working until she was 80 years of age. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, canning, baking, crocheting and ceramics. Ethel is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Ron Duncan of East Wenatchee; sister-in-law, Kathy Marr; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Turnipseed of East Wenatchee, Marsha and Ed Giertz of Bonny Lake, WA, Mary Jo and Tom Gash of East Wenatchee, Nancy and Bob Van Hoven of Wenatchee and Jennifer Crump of East Wenatchee; grandchildren, Debbie and Bob Brown of Federal Way, WA, Barbara Wilson of East Wenatchee, Karolyn and Glen Pyle of Phoenix, AZ, Kathleen and Mike Young of Snohomish, WA, Heidi and Shawn Ralton of Bonney Lake, WA, Timothy and Sheila Giertz of Sumner, WA, Kyle and Amy McCubbin of Wenatchee, WA, Jared McCubbin of East Wenatchee, Kyra Gash of Wenatchee, Brian Gash of Birch Bay, WA, Randy Curry of Bothell, WA, Kimberly and Troy Toftness of Wenatchee, Kristin and Jay Yanik of Rock Island, WA and Joshua Crump of Bellingham, WA; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Brayden Brown, Daria and Alena Young, Mikayla and Ryan Pyle, Alison (Nelson), Colby and Blake Ralton, Benjamin Giertz, Mariah and MiKayla McCubbin, Gabe Seward, Samantha and Sabrina McCubbin, Madison, Austin, Carson and Peyton Curry, Phyneus Gash and Ian Kramer, Brock Toftness, Abrahm Jones, Gracie Yanik and one more Toftness baby girl on the way; and great-great-grandchildren, Liam and Henley Nelson. Ethel was a favorite Auntie to many nieces and nephews, as well as their children. She lived with unconditional love, compassion and devotion to every member of her family. Lovingly welcoming her into their arms and preceding her in death were her parents, Wilbur and Zella Marr; husband, Tim Turnipseed; two brothers, James and Emerson Marr; two sisters, Helen Mulloy and Edna Standerfer; granddaughter, Kelleen Giertz; grandson, Kelly Van Hoven; and great-granddaughter, Skylar Rae Toftness. Service of Commemoration will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home, 302 Ninth Street, Wenatchee, with Interment following at Evergreen Memorial Park and a Reception at Eastmont Community Church, 783 4th Street N.E., East Wenatchee, WA.
