Schubring The funeral services of Mrs. William Schubring were held from the Sunbeam church, Holden township, Tuesday forenoon, conducted by Rev. J.T. A large concourse of sympathizing friends and neighbors attended to pay their last respects to an estimable neighbor and citizen of their community, who dwelt among them over a third of a century. Mabel Holloway Schubring was born at Flushing, Ohio, December 5, 1877, and passed away at her home in Holden township Thursday, April 13, 1933, at the age of 55 years, 4 months and 8 days. Mrs. Schubring had been a patient sufferer for years. In May, 1931, it became necessary to amputate one leg and in less than a month the other leg had to be amputated. She seemed much better for a time and although forced to a wheel chair she got around the house and helped with the work all that she could and seemed quite reconciled to her affliction. About six months ago she began to fail and on January 3rd took to her bed where she was confined until her death. During the last few months she suffered much but remained patient through it all. When a young woman she became a member of the Christian church. In her last days she renewed her faith in God and prayed, if it was His will, to take her to that Home where she would be free from all pain and sorrow. All through her life she was noted for her kindness and generosity. Mrs. Ferree of St. Lawrence, who has known her since she was a little girl, tells a story of how a little girl came to see her and had no shoes and she took off her own shoes and gave them to the poor little girl. This simply illustrates how ready and willing she always was to help. She came to South Dakota in 1897 and married William Schubring on July 19, 1898, at Redfield. She came as a bride to the farm that the family still resides on. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and six children, three brothers in Ohio and a host of friends. The children are Ernest Schubring, Esther Barber, Otho, Lucy, James and Katherine Schubring, all of which are at home except Esther who is Mrs. John Barber and lives at Sterling, Colorado. There is also a stepdaughter, Mrs. Inez Bennett, who lives in Minneapolis, Minn., and three brothers John and Ralph Holloway, living in Flushing, Ohio, and Nathan Holloway at Bridgeport, Ohio, and a host of friends. With the passing away of Mrs. Schubring a place has been left vacant and hearts made sad, but faith I Jesus who is the Resurrection and Life and our hope is that we will meet her in the better land where there is no sorrow or pain.
