Read More	BUMGARNER, ETHEL MARY—Ethel Mary Rocole, daughter of Charles and Anna Mann Rocole, was born on a farm near Strang, Neb., March 13, 1893. She attended the country schools in her home community, later graduating from the high school at Strang with the class of 1910. February 6, 1913, she was united in marriage to Ellis Bumgarner. The marriage vows were read by Rev. C. J. Melville in the United Brethren parsonage at Strang. They began their home together on a farm near Strang and they have spent all the years of a happy married life in that vicinity. Two sons, Russell and Merrill came to bless this union. Both reside not far from the parental home. Besides her husband and sons and two daughters-in-law, her mother-in-law, Mrs. Cash Bumgarner, four sisters and one brother remain to mourn her departure. They are Mrs. Blanche Jennings of Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Gertie Stickell of Edgar, Mrs. Bess Swanson of Colorado Springs, Col., Mrs. Bernice Kiester of Norfolk, Neb., and Harold Rocole of Bruning. There are also three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends. One brother, one sister and her parents preceded Mrs. Bumgarner in death. Mrs. Bumgarner's congenial attitude was a benediction to every occasion at which she was present. Joining the congregational church in her youth, she took her place as a faithful worker until her day was done. She was president of the J. E. Kensington of Strang, an organization in which she enjoyed fellowship with her neighbors for many years. Through these organizations and as a neighbor, in her lifelong residence in the Strang community, she gave herself unreservedly to that which her hand found to do, laying up rich treasures in the care of her loved ones and in service to her fellowmen. Her untimely passing came as a shock to all. She and Mr. Bumgarner had come to Geneva Saturday, May 13, to extend Mother's day greetings to his mother, Mrs. Cash Bumgarner. With almost no warning the angel of death came to the scene, and in a moment claimed the life of this kind and cheerful person. She was a goon woman whose kindness and generosity will be long remembered. With limited understanding we could not say that she had no more work to do. Had she lived, her work not doubt would have gone on as it has through the years. We are very sure that her reward above is great and that the home she has entered is beautiful beyond description. Bruised as we are through her sudden departure, we are not yet ready to say that our loss is her gain. Perhaps someday we will have the strength to say this and in the meantime let us all be thankful for what she gave to our day, and in that inspiration press on toward the mark of the usefulness and the kindliness which she has set as a goal for us all. Funeral services were held at the Geneva Congregational church at 2 p. m. Tuesday, May 16, Rev. William G. Bohi officiated. Mrs. Robert Waring played instrumental music preceding and following the service and background music during parts of the service. Mrs. Leon Messman of Grafton and Mrs. Fred Messman of Bruning sang, "The Old Rugged Cross," "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "The Land Where We Never Grow Old." They were accompanied by Mrs. Edwin Messman of Bruning. Pallbearers were Vern Christiancy, Earl Christiancy, Roy Dunker, Norman Dunker, Edwin Messman and Fred Ough.
