Read More	BUMGARNER, RUSSELL SHELDON RUSS—Russell Bumgarner, well known farmer and livestock feeder, passed away unexpectedly at his home near Strang, Friday morning, April 4, 1969, aged 53 years, 10 months and 4 days. He had just come into the house from outdoors when he collapsed due to a heart attack. He was rushed to the Fillmore County hospital, but life was extinct on arrival. Mr. Bumgarner was born at Strang, Neb. May 30, 1915, a son of Ellis and Ethel (Rocole) Bumgarner. He grew up and lived his entire life in the Strang community. November 30, 1940, he was united in marriage to Elaine Kamler of Shickley, Neb. To this union were born a son, Charles of Lincoln, and a daughter Connie, also of Lincoln. Russell was engaged in farming and cattle feeding his entire life. His influence in the cattle industry grew until at the time of his death he was widely known and respected throughout Nebraska and adjoining states. His counsel was sought by many due to his experience and knowledge in this field. Friends and acquaintances alike mourn his death. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva. He also held membership in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Geneva and the Elks Lodge at York. He was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his father, Ellis, of Geneva, his wife and two children and a brother, Mervell, of Strang. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 7, at the Geneva congregational United Church of Christ, Rev. Delano Spitzer officiated. William Kinder sang “Beautiful Isle” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were Donald Bumgarner, Leland DuBois, Virgil Fixemer, Larry Logan, Warren Rocole and Lawrence Wattles. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal April 10th,1969 page 5.
