Dead is Fred Henderson, 66, of Claresholm who lost his life in a two-car near Fort Macleod early Saturday morning. A second person, whose name has not been released by police, died Sunday in Lethbridge hospital following a car accident in the Nobleford area. IN MACLEOD HOSPITAL Henderson was a passenger in a car driven by Byron Keith Lambrose, also of Claresholm. The Lambrose vehicle was in collision with a vehicle driven by Rex Lybbert of Kingston, Ont. Both drivers sustained bruises. An occupant of the Lybbert car, Jarvis Quinton, 19, of Glenwood is in Fort Macleod hospital suffering from serious head lacerations. Two persons are in Lethbridge hospital following the accident in the Nobleford area. Glen Marshall and Gordon Blackburn, both of Medicine Hat, are in serious condition in hospital as a result of injuries received in the accident. The accident took place on Highway 23, two miles north of the junction of highways 23 and 2. Police report the driver lost control of the car and it went into the ditch. Damages totaled $1,000. 12 DIE IN ALBERTA In all, 12 persons died in weekend accidents in Alberta. Traffic accidents claimed 10 lives and two died in house fires. Mrs. Robert Fairbairn, 31, of Edmonton, was killed Sunday night when an Edmonton fire truck struck a car at a southside intersection. Eight persons were injured but only three were kept in hospital. Barry Kirkland, 21, of Calgary, and Floyd Soldier, 23, of the Morley Reserve, were killed Sunday in a head-on crash of two cars on Highway 1 at the junction of the Banff Coach Road. Gary Richard Kirkeby, 20, of Hanna, was killed and two other persons were injured when their car failed to make a turn and overturned 14 miles north of Langdon Corner, 25 miles northwest of Calgary. Gordon Frank Esau, 16, of Crooked Creek, 40 miles east of Grande Prairie, died when a car in which he was riding overturned near his home. Ole Schram, 63, of the Crooked Creek district died in a house fire Friday night. Mrs. Ethel Blenner-Hassett, 43, of Calgary, died when her husband's car was in collision with an RCMP cruiser in Calgary. The police car was chasing a speeder at the time. Two persons were injured. Mrs. Sarah Grainger, 75, of Calgary, was fatally injured by a car in a Calgary crosswalk. Two-year-old Brenda Louise Hagen died when her home was levelled by flames Sunday. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arne Hagen, were about 50 yards from the building when fire broke out. Mr. Hagen saved a two-month-old daughter before he was driven back by smoke. The fire was at Valhalla, 22 miles north of Beaverlodge in the Peace River country. John Odenback, 10, of Crooked Creek, was fatally injured in a car crash Sunday night at Woking, 30 miles north of Grande Prairie. -Lethbridge Herald (Sept. 28, 1964)
