She was born November 12, 1893, in West Jefferson, North Carolina, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Gentry. She married John Clyde Farthing in 1909 at Cottonwood, Idaho. They came to Montana in 1914 settling in the Gibson area on a ranch. Later they purchased the Abe Kelsie ranch. In 1947 they moved to Reed Point, Montana, and operated the Reed Point Hotel. Let me introduce myself....(Jim)James Bryan Gentry from Ashe County, NC. My dad was James Herman Gentry, Etta's brother....When I lived in Texas over 50 yrs ago I went to Big Timber once and met Aunt Etta, I remember she had a deaf son, John I believe was his name and me met a daughter Leah that had a dress shop.
