Description	:	Born February 26, 1905, Etta Susan Griffin, was the third child of Ralph Edwin Griffin and Zillah May Wheelihan Griffin. Her siblings were Irene Griffin Burnett, Noble C Griffin and Alonzo "Lonnie" Griffin.She was the granddaughter of Ellendale and Dakotah Territory pioneers, Alonzo and Susan Cox Griffin and John and Mariah Barr Wheelihan. Read More	Born February 26, 1905, Etta Susan Griffin, was the third child of Ralph Edwin Griffin and Zillah May Wheelihan Griffin. Her siblings were Irene Griffin Burnett, Noble C Griffin and Alonzo "Lonnie" Griffin.She was the granddaughter of Ellendale and Dakotah Territory pioneers, Alonzo and Susan Cox Griffin and John and Mariah Barr Wheelihan. Etta was born and raised on the Griffin family farm six miles west of Ellendale, ND in Elm Township along Hwy 11. She attended the Griffin rural school and graduated from Ellendale High School in 1922. She taught school in McIntosh County near Ashley, ND, where she met Edwin F (Jim) Brauer, who would become her husband in 1925. They rented a farm west of Ellendale early in their marriage, and then for ten years east of Monango, ND, before purchasing their own farm on the ND-SD State Line nine miles southwest of Ellendale in 1942. Jim and Etta were the parents of Ruth McNabb and Edwin R Brauer and grandparents of Regan McNabb, Pamela Brauer O'Brien, James W Brauer, and Bruce McNabb. They were members of the Presbyterian Church of Ellendale. Etta was a great cook and homemaker, a helpful farm partner, and a devoted mother and grandmother, who always had a positive outlook and enjoyed life to its fullest. She cared for her husband at home for seven years following his paralyzing stroke until his death in 1979. Etta passed away on July 25, 1991 at Ellendale Memorial Hospital. She is buried next to her husband and sister, Irene, in the same plot as her daughter, Ruth, and near her son, parents, grandparents, and many other family members in the Ellendale City Cemetery.
