He was born May 12, 1926 in Leshara, NE to Ambrose and Maud (Feuerstein) Feist. He grew up on the family farm near Leshara and attended school in Leshara. He started his farming career at the age of 16. He gave up the opportunity to play baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers, to farm, after an injury to his father. Read More	***************************************** Eugene "Bean" Feist, 86 years, of Leshara, NE died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at Arbor Manor in Fremont. He was born May 12, 1926 in Leshara, NE to Ambrose and Maud (Feuerstein) Feist. He grew up on the family farm near Leshara and attended school in Leshara. He started his farming career at the age of 16. He gave up the opportunity to play baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers, to farm, after an injury to his father. Farming was his passion, and he only quit when he was admitted to the nursing home in 2006. Eugene married Frances Teeter on November 15, 1955 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. His hobbies were hunting and fishing, which he passed on to his children and grand-children. He is survived by his wife, Frances; sons, Dave Feist and Dale Feist both of Leshara; daughters, Virginia & husband, Victor Mueller of Fremont and Sharon & husband, Kenny Holeka of Seward, NE; 9 grandchildren, Douglas Christiansen, Jennifer Barker, Jessica Mueller, Mark Rosencrantz, Tanya Kempf, Landon Millie, Cody, Colton and Chase Feist; and 6 great grandchildren, Braxton Parsley, Josie & Michaela Barker, Jacob Rosencrantz, and Aydin & Blaine Kempf. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Elmer Peyton; and niece, Kathy Goracke. Funeral service will be 2 PM, Tuesday, March 5th at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation is Monday from 3 PM to 8 PM with the family receiving friends on Monday from 5 PM to 7 PM all at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Dodge County Humane Society.
