He was a 1942 graduate of Gustavus High School. Formerly of Jamestown, Pennsylvania he served in the United State Navy during World War II on the USS Bennington (as the original crew “plank-owner”) as the ships meteorologist. He and his wife went on to own and operate Kirtland Farms Registered Holsteins, first in Austinburg, Ohio, Kinsman, Ohio, Wayne, Ohio and finally in Stoneboro, Pennsylvania, farming for over 50 years. He was one of the early pioneers of the Ashtabula County Holstein Club as well as the Trumbull and Mercer Counties Holsteins Clubs and exhibited registered Holsteins at the National Holstein shows, having an All American Heifer exhibited by Curtis Candy. He enjoyed his lap dog Mandy, going fishing and driving his pontoon boat. He supported his grandchildren sporting activities and followed the Cleveland Indians and Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed many meals and socializing at the Lil Bit. He was a member of the Jamestown Lions Club and the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club, showing his 1938 John Deere B. He was preceded by his parents; his wife of nearly 54 years, Virginia R. Dillon, whom died on November 13, 2001 and 1 brother, Harold G. Dillon Sr. He leaves behind 2 daughters and their husbands, 2 sons and their wives, 3 brothers, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
