Description	:	Eugene "Dink" Lauters, 73, of Grove, Okla., formerly of Le Mars, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at his daughter's residence following a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Presbyterian Church of Christ in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Presbyterian Church of Christ in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. The body was cremated. Mr. Lauters was born May 29, 1928, in Ridgefield, Wash., the son of Frank and Laura (Meyer) Lauters. He moved with his family to Iowa in 1929, and was raised on a farm in Marian Township. He attended rural school and graduated from Le Mars High School in 1945. He was in the U.S. Army, stationed with the occupational forces in Udine, Italy, after World War II. He farmed for many years in Marian Township until retiring in 1975. He was employed with Kramer Construction and retired from the custodial department of Le Mars Community High School. He was honored by the students to serve as parade marshall for the homecoming parade. In 1996, he moved to Grove. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and fast-pitch softball, which he played and coached. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Vicky and Dave Arens of Le Mars, and Beth and Matt Edmonds of Rocky Comfort, Mo.; a son, Scott of Le Mars; his mother of Le Mars; a sister and her husband, Mary and Dick Adler of Fremont, Neb.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Richard. Memorials may be directed to Plymouth County Museum or the Pheasants Forever Chapter.
