Laura Louisa Meyer was born on December 24, 1906 in Le Mars, the daughter of Henry L. and Sarah (Mohning) Meyer. She graduated from Le Mars High School. On August 6, 1925 Laura and Frank Lauters were united in marriage in Le Mars. The couple made their home on a farm near Le Mars. Lauters, 101, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 in Fremont, Neb. Laura Louisa Meyer was born on December 24, 1906 in Le Mars, the daughter of Henry L. and Sarah (Mohning) Meyer. She graduated from Le Mars High School. On August 6, 1925 Laura and Frank Lauters were united in marriage in Le Mars. The couple made their home on a farm near Le Mars. Along with farming and homemaking, Laura was very active in her church and community. Laura was a member of the Presbyterian Untied Church of Christ in Le Mars and belonged to Circle. She served as Co-chairman of the Federated Women's Club and Farm Bureau Women. Laura was instrumental in the organization of Meals-On-Wheels in Le Mars and delivered meals for several years. She and Frank also assisted in the foundation of the Plymouth County Historical Museum. She was also active in the PEER group and served on the Care Review Board of Plymouth Manor Nursing Home. In earlier years she volunteered the time as a 4-H leader and sat on the advisory board for the extension service. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Mary M. Adler of Fremont, Neb.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Helen Gates of Marcus. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank on October 24, 1985; sons Richard and Eugene; a sister Leona Moeller; five brothers Alvin, Lloyd, Harold, Herbert, and Ervin Meyer. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Plymouth County Historical Museum Auditorium (335 1st Ave SW) in Le Mars. The Rev. Dr. William Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Museum.
