Description	:	OBIT: Eugene "Gene" Ringer, 65, former Ellensburg resident, died Sunday at Seatoma Nursing Home in Des Moines. He was born in Thorp on June 16, 1924, one of four children of Roy and Blanche (Nelson) Ringer. Following high school, he served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. After discharge, he was employed by the Soil Conservation Service of the U. S. Department of Agriculture. From 1948 until 1974, he worked as a field engineer for Yakima Cement Products. He was born in Thorp on June 16, 1924, one of four children of Roy and Blanche (Nelson) Ringer. Following high school, he served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. After discharge, he was employed by the Soil Conservation Service of the U. S. Department of Agriculture. From 1948 until 1974, he worked as a field engineer for Yakima Cement Products. He then was a draftsman and inspector with Preston-Shephard & Associates for two years and later worked for the Armstrong & Armstrong Contracting firm from Wenatchee as an estimator. He was a life member of Elks Lodge No. 318 and enjoyed fishing hunting, and golfing. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Millie (Emerson) Ringer of Federal Way; two daughters, Vickie Edwards, Federal Way, and Sandy Ringer of Kent; two granddaughters, an aunt, Lorene Rushton, and an uncle Orville Nelson, all of Ellensburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 Thursday at Cotton chapel, The Rev. Donald Mekkhof will officiate and burial will follow at High Valley Cemetery.
