The obituary: Eugene L. Shuck, eldest son of George and Emogene Timmerman Shuck, was born on a farm in Jewell County, Kansas on Aug. 13, 1874, and died on March 19, 1967, having attained the age of 92 years, 7 months and 6 days. As a small boys he moved,with his pioneer parents to the family farm near Guide Rock, Neb., and knew all of the privations of the early years of the state. He grew to manhood in the Guide Rock vicinity and on Nov. 25, 1896, he was united in marriage to Lillian Watt. Eight children were born to this union, three of whom preceded him in death. In addition to his own children, three grandsons, Clayton, Burton and Keith Fisher, were raised in the family home. Clayton was killed in action in World War II. Burton resides in Los Angeles, Calif., and Keith in Columbus, Neb. In September of 1913, Mr. and Mrs. Shuck moved with their family to Superior which was to remain their home for the rest of their lives. Mr. Shuck was an advocate and champion of receiving the best education, possible, and together with his wife, supported the Superior schools in any and all endeavors. All 10 of their children graduated from the Superior High School. Active in the livestock business, Mr. Shuck retired at the age of 80 years to care for his invalid wife. Mrs. Shuck preceded him in death on May 18, 1960. He was a man of amazing vitality and abilities, admired and respected by all who knew him. He was a resident of the Good Samaritan Home in Nelson at the time of his death, and had been a member of the Methodist Church of Superior since 1961. He is survived by five children, Mrs. John Jacoby (Beulah) of South Gate, Calif., Noel Shuck of Wyandotte, Mich., Carol Shuck of Superior, Mrs. Eli Skinner (Gertrude) of Ruskin and Mrs. Wilbur Swanson (Frances) of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; an infant son, Glen; and two daughters, Mrs. 0. L. Fisher (Hazel) and Mrs. L. W. Heal (Clara). Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and one brother, Lorin V. Shuck of McCook, Neb., many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
