Read More	The Topeka Capital-Journal, Friday, April 8, 1988 EUGENE R. MEIER Holton--Eugene R. Meier, 70, Holton, died late Wednesday, April 6, 1988, at a Holton hospital. Mr. Meier was a truck driver for Holton Transport Co., several years and later worked 20 years for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. plant in Topeka. He retired in 1980. He served three months in the Army during World War II, then three years in the National Guard. He was born Jan. 27, 1913, at Nortonville, the son of Henry and Augusta Conrad Meier. He spent most of his life in the Holton community. Mr. Meier was a member of St. Dominic Catholic church at Holton and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3417. He was married to Phyllis L. Desbien Jan. 5, 1943, at Holton. She died Dec. 5, 1986. A daughter, Judith Ann Meier, died in January 1945. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roxie Ann McConnaughy, Meriden, and Mrs. Pauline Rae Metzger, Atchison; a son, Marlin E. Meier, Winchester, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Geneva Anderson, Holton, and Mrs. Mary Schaffer, Russell; four brothers, John Meier and Charles Meier, both of Topeka, Floyd Meier, Ottawa, and Virgil Meier, San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery west of Holton. Mr. Meier will lie in state after noon today at the church where a Christian prayer service at 7 p.m. today will be followed by visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Dominic Catholic church and sent in care of Denison State Bank, Holton, 66436. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
