Description	:	Eunice Aldra Leapley, 91, of York, died peacefully in her sleep, in the care of AseraCare Hospice in York February 22, 2009. Eunice Aldra Leapley was born July 19, 1917 at Geneva to Earl and Olga (Hardman) Schwedhelm of Fairmont. The family moved to Peru in 1918 where Eunice attended elementary school until 1928 when they moved to Lincoln. Eunice attended Lincoln High School, where she played the cello, graduating in 1934. Eunice Aldra Leapley was born July 19, 1917 at Geneva to Earl and Olga (Hardman) Schwedhelm of Fairmont. The family moved to Peru in 1918 where Eunice attended elementary school until 1928 when they moved to Lincoln. Eunice attended Lincoln High School, where she played the cello, graduating in 1934. Eunice graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1938 with a BA in Education, then taught in high schools for five and one-half years at Belden, Hooper and Tecumseh. In 1944 she went to Tucson, Arizona where on February 9, 1944 she married Howard Gerald Leapley who was serving in the Army Air Corps. When he was discharged January 23, 1946, they returned to Belden where he had a Rural Mail Carrier job waiting for him. To their marriage two sons were born, Roger Sterling Leapley, October 21, 1946 and Kevin Earl Leapley, January 4, 1953. Eunice served at treasurer for the Presbyterian Church District Women’s Association, resigning after 11 years of service and was a member of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron. Eunice is survived by two sons, Roger (Cheryl) Leapley of Mesquite, Nevada and Kevin (Bobbi Janda) Leapley of York; grandchildren, Jason Alan Leapley of Mead, Colorado, Michael Jeff Leapley of Houston, Texas, and Alan Ross Leapley of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband and granddaughter, Crystal Lynn Leapley. Eunice’s family appreciates your thoughts and kindness. A Christian Service was held Friday, February 27 at United Presbyterian Church in Laurel, Neb., with Rev. Stephen Deines officiating. Interment was in Belden Cemetery, Belden. Hasemann Funeral Homes of Laurel had charge of arrangements.
