Description	:	Mrs. Eunice Hocket, a little more than seventy-eight years of age and a resident of Clay County for over fifty years, and of Spencer for forty-one years, died Tuesday, March 7, at the home of daughter, Mrs. Fred James, near Dickens. Mrs Hockett was suffering from an attack of phenumonia when complications of heart trouble set in. Mrs. Hockett had been a widow for the the past six years, her husband dying in Spencer at that time. The old home place on East Fourth Street just east of the Masonic Temple was one of the landmarks of the city. Mr. and Mrs. Hockett had seen the city adcance from the state of a village to a modern bustling city of the middle west. They had come to the county with hope, courage, and perseverance as their chief items of capital and in this county reared their family of boys and girls to the state of manhood and womanhood. Eunice Bond was the daughter of Mordicai and Rachel Bond and was born in the state of Indiana. When a young woman, she was married in Lee County, Iowa, to Ezra Hockett and they made their first home in that county. Later they removed to Hardin County, Iowa, which was their home until they came to Clay County. Mrs. Hockett become the mother of ten children, four of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Fred James of near Dickens, Mrs. J.A. Gleason of Sioux Rapids, James D. Hockett of Gillette Grove and Mrs. C.D. Christensen of Woolsey, South Dakota. There are also ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren left; one brother, William Bond, living in Salem, Iowa. Mrs. Hockett's parents were members of the Friends Church and she herself remained a faithful member of this church all her life. During the years of her long life she retained her energy, her cheerful view of all things and was respected and beloved by her large circle of friends. The funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon, beginning with a short prayer service at the James home after which the remains were taken to Spencer where further services were held in the Congregational Church in charge of the Rev. E. Merle Adams, pastor of the church. Interment was made in Riverside Cemetery Obituary published in THE NEWS - HERALD Thursday March 16, 1922
