Description	:	Eunice Florence Brown Devin was born in Helena,Montana. She was the second of five daughters born to Arthur Tappan and Eunice "May" (Wetherell) Brown. Her sisters: Clara, Emma, Rilla, and Margaret Elizabeth spanned eighteen years but they were very close and supportive to each other throughout their lives. In 1906, Eunice graduated from Idaho Intermountain Institute, a boarding high school near Weiser, where she worked in the laundry and lived in a room called the Eagle's Nest. She also played the tuba and guitar. She met Bernard Devin there and he married her in April 1910. They were married in Seattle, and had three children: Robert, Bertha, and William. Bernard was a handsome but restless man who was plagued with pain and the inability to find sustaining employment. The family moved several times until Eunice finally had her house in Seattle and Bernard came and left and eventually divorced her to marry another. Her loving relationship with her sisters, her in-laws, and her children, sustained her as she worked through obstacles and provided a home for her family. After her children became adults Eunice maintained her home in Seattle, but also traveled and lived with her family members. She and Rilla ran a nursing home for a while. Her death was sudden in November of 1955 in Seattle and she remains each day in our thoughts. Eunice is buried in the Garden of Lincoln, 212A Space 6.
