Read More	DIEDERICH, EUNICE MALVINA SWEDE—Eunice Malvina (Swede) Ham Diederich was born to Andrew and Sophie Swanson Ham on September 7, 1912, on a farm near Saronville, Clay county, Nebraska, and passed away May 12, 1991, at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 26 days. She was one of seven children in the family. In 1920 the family moved to a farm near Shickley. In 1924 she, with the family, moved to a farm near Clay Center. They lived there for four years, returning to their original home near Shickley in 1928. She completed the eighth grade in District 86 of Fillmore county. She graduated from Clay Center High School in 1930. Later she attended Grand Island Business School for one year. Eunice was a 4-H leader in the 1930’s in the Shickley community. For many years she had been an active member of the Stanton Extension Club. Eunice was baptized in the Saronville Methodist Church. She later became a member of the Shickley United Methodist Church and at the time of her death, she was a member of the United Methodist Church in Geneva. On April 25, 1942, she was married to Phillip Diederich at the Turkey Creek Parsonage. To this union was born one son, Steven. They lived on the farm near Geneva, which had been homesteaded by Phillip’s grandfather, Joseph Diederich. Eunice was preceded in death by her husband; her father and mother, one sister, Mrs. Conrad “Ella” Ohs; and four brothers, Reuben, Roy, Melvin (Bill) and an infant brother, Paul Stanley. She is survived by her son, Steven; one sister, Mabel Bergquist; three sisters-in-law, Viola Ham Golik, Irene Ham Golik, and Nonearl Ohs; one brother-in-law, Paul Diederich; three nieces, Wanda Hanson and her husband, Marvin, Elaine Thompson and her husband, William, and Peggy Steward and her husband, Douglas; three nephews, Marvin Ohs and his wife , Dixie, Dwight Ohs and his wife, Sara Lee, and Richard “Bud” Ha and his wife, Sharlet and other relatives and friends. Eunice gave much living care to her parents and other family members before and after her marriage, which was greatly appreciated by them. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Geneva on Wednesday, May 15, with the Rev. Stanley Rider officiating. Mrs. Judy Ackland accompanied Kelly Eich who sang “Amazing Grace” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.” Pallbearers were Charles Miller, Donald Moravec, Richard G. Nelson, Robert L. Nunns, Patrick J. O’Brien and Lawrence N. Weinerth. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal May 23, 1991 page 17
