Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in Gering with Pastor Richard Neugebauer officiating followed by graveside services at Chappell Cemetery. Eunice was born on June 29, 1917 in St. Paul, NE, to Edwin and Alma (Larson) Berggren. She grew up on the family farm during the depression and attended school in St. Paul before receiving a B.S. from the University of Nebraska in Home Economics in 1940. After graduation she taught in Hooper, NE, where she met her future husband, Charles. They married in 1943 in St. Paul and moved to Stanton, NE. Three years later they moved to Pierce, NE, where their two children, Larry and Kay, were born. In 1956 they moved to Alliance, NE, and in 1966 to Gering, NE. Eunice was a dedicated homemaker and gardener. Outside the home she was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, LWM, AAUW and Extension Club. She freely gave of her time to philanthropic organizations like Meals on Wheels, the North Platte Valley Museum and the UNL Alumni Association. She loved to read and to sew. She made numerous quilts for World Relief. She was an extremely patient and kind mother and wife who spent hours visiting the sick and elderly. She is survived by her husband Charles Fenster of Scottsbluff, with whom she shared 69 years of loving marriage, her children and their spouses Larry and Carol Fenster of Centennial, CO, and Kay and Robert DuBois of Rolla, MO, her grandchildren, Brett Fenster of Centennial, CO, Erik DuBois, of Albany, New York, and Stefan DuBois of Don Benito, Spain, and her great grandchildren, Keene, Romi and Cole Fenster. Her parents and three siblings preceded her in death. Eunice R. Fenster, 95, of Gering, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at The Residency Care Center in Scottsbluff. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 8, at Faith Lutheran Church in Gering. A graveside service will be held in the Chappell Cemetery at Chappell. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff is in charge of the arrangements. The Star-Herald March 7, 2013
