Alma Davida Larson Berggren was born September 30, 1880 in Oringe, Sweden to John N. and Petronella Larson. She came to America with her parents November 19, 1889 and settled in Greeley County, Nebraska. Later they moved to Howard County where she finished the 8th grade in District 21. She graduated from St. Paul High School in the class of 1899. For four years she taught school and on September 11, 1903 was united in marriage to Edwin Carl Berggren, son of Andrew and Bengta Berggren of Sanders County. To this marriage 5 children were born: Mrs. Henry Enevoldsen of Grand Island, Nebr., Mrs. Lowell Hall of Blue Earth, Minn., Mrs. E. J. Smith of Manson, Mass., Mrs. Charles Fenster of Alliance, Nebr., and Lloyd Berggren of St. Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Berggren lived on a farm until their retirement in 1947 when they moved to St. Paul. Mrs. Berggren was a member of the Methodist Church, having served the Fairdale Methodist Church in many capacities. She had been in frail health for several years, but her death came suddenly at home on January 30, 1961. She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother, Carl Johan in Sweden. She is survived by her husband Edwin and 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Miss Marie Larson of Grand Island, Nebraska; Miss Anna Larson and Miss Emma Larson, both of Denver, Colorado and a brother, Leonard Larson of St. Paul, Nebr. Mrs. Berggren lived to the age of 80 years and 4 months.
