Description	:	Thanks to contributor #48796369 Eva A. Hawkins, 91, of Litchfield died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000 at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000 at the First Baptist Church in Mason City with the Rev. Victor Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins was born on Jan. 13, 1909, on a farm west of Mason City in Custer County to Bert and Ellen (Peterson) Amsberry. Mrs. Hawkins was born on Jan. 13, 1909, on a farm west of Mason City in Custer County to Bert and Ellen (Peterson) Amsberry. The family moved to Oregon when she was young, and after returning to Nebraska, she attended Algernon and Mason City public schools. She was baptized and confirmed at Evangelical Zion Lutheran Church eight miles south of Mason City. She married George H. Hawkins on Sept. 27, 1927, at Bushnell. They farmed for two years east of Mason City, then moved to a farm on the Basin for the next 16 years. They then moved to a farm south of the Basin for the next 20 years. The couple moved to Litchfield in February 1966. Mr. Hawkins died in October of 1983. Mrs. Hawkins continued to live in Litchfield. She enjoyed working in her garden and flowers. She also sewed and did facy crochet work. After the membership of Basin Church dissolved, she became a friend of the Litchfield United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Vern of Grand Island; one daughter, Jennie Fread of Litchfield; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna was in charge of arrangements.
