C. Purdy of Phillips and both deaths resulting from influenza. At ten o'clock yesterday morning occurred the funeral of Mrs. Roy England, who passed away early Saturday morning at her home near Phillips, and at 2 p.m. the funeral of Mrs. John Bierbower, whose death occurred at Giltner on Monday, was held. C. Purdy, was born in Phillips, Neb., February 12, 1898, and passed away at her home four miles northeast of Phillips, October 29, 1918, being aged 20 years, 8 months and 14 days. The deceased was united in marriage to Roy England October 29, 1916. She united with the M.E. church of Phillips when a child and has remained a member ever since. She graduated from the Aurora high school with the class of 1915. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and baby, father, mother, eight brothers and sisters as follows: W. R. Purdy of Aurora; Frank Purdy and Mrs. L. J. Baker of Phillips, Clarence Purdy of Brayton, Neb., Charles and Everett Purdy of Fairmont, Neb., Myrtle, Raymond and Alvin Purdy of Phillips. Mrs. England fell a victim of the Spanish influenza. Her condition from the time she contracted the disease was regarded as being very serious, and as her health was not at all good before the fatal malady was contracted, there seemed to be little hopes for her recovery. Funeral services, which were private, were conducted from the home Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. R. B. E. Hill, pastor of the Phillips M.E. church, being in charge. The remains were interred in the Phillips cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved husband and family. Contributor: diaNEB - [email protected]
