Description	:	Eva Faye "Doad" Young, 90, rural Erie, went home to be with her Lord at 6:10 a.m., Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul. She was born June 15, 1921, in Allen County, KS to Harry Sherman and Ina Belle (Butler) Hunt. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1938. On February 26, 1939 she married Kenneth Leroy Young, of Petrolia. They went to Las Cruces, New Mexico where Kenneth worked on the railroad for six months before returning to Kansas. Read More	Eva Faye "Doad" Young, 90, rural Erie, went home to be with her Lord at 6:10 a.m., Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul. She was born June 15, 1921, in Allen County, KS to Harry Sherman and Ina Belle (Butler) Hunt. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1938. On February 26, 1939 she married Kenneth Leroy Young, of Petrolia. They went to Las Cruces, New Mexico where Kenneth worked on the railroad for six months before returning to Kansas. They farmed in the rural Erie area all their married life. Kenneth died on February 6, 1977 and she remained on the farm until March of 2007, when she moved into assisted living at Guest Home Estates in Erie. Shortly after her husband's death she began working at the Prest Lumber Co. in Erie. After taking some tax courses, she began working at Barnby's Tax Service, and then Rose Income Tax Service, until her retirement at age 72. Eva, valuing the importance of higher education, took college courses and graduated from Neosho County Community College in May of 1988 at age 66. She loved studying history and later enrolled in the Continuing Education Classes for Seniors for a number of years. Genealogy was a delight as she shared with her daughter in the excitement of trips researching and meeting new found cousins as far away as Vinton, Iowa, which culminated in a 500 page book published in 1992 and the family reunion with relatives coming as far away as Florida. In her earlier years, besides being a homemaker, she enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting, music, traveling, and attending activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter – Sharon Louise (Leland) Yarnell, of Erie; son – Frank (Sharon) Young, of Erie; Eight grandchildren – Kenneth Yarnell, David Yarnell, Michael Yarnell and Lisa Sulenes, all of Erie; Sara Mora, Marshall, MO; Janice Woods, Kearney, NE; Audrey Monroe, Lawrence and Neil Young, Kansas City; fourteen great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and five step great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Ellen Oehlert. Eva loved her Lord. She and Kenneth were charter members of the Bible Baptist Church in Chanute back in the mid 1940's. She had been a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Erie since 1990. She dearly loved the church services each week at the assisted living facility after moving there in 2007. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m., Saturday, March 24, at the Temple Baptist Church in Erie. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Chanute. The family will receive friends at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday. Memorials are suggested to the Temple Baptist Church.
