For more than six months her health was poor. The hearts of the parents kept alternating between hope and fear while they did all they could to bring her back to good health. Read More	Messenger, March 1, 1912 The home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clay of Newburg was saddened on Sunday, February 25, by the death of their youngest daughter, Eva Grace Clay. For more than six months her health was poor. The hearts of the parents kept alternating between hope and fear while they did all they could to bring her back to good health. But suddenly there came a change that called her to the home above. She was confined to her bed but two days. Eva Grace was born May 29th, 1901. She was of a patient and loving disposition and bore all her sufferings with unusual patience. Mr. and Mrs. Clay have the sympathy of a very large circle of friends and neighbors in this bereavement. The funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday, February 28th, conducted by Rev. H.L. Wissler of Chester Center, assisted by Rev. Mr. Hobson of Newburg, and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot at Hickory Grove cemetery [NOTE: Either an error, or she was moved to Prairie View later]. Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Wert of Kellogg, Mrs. Eaton and Mrs. McCarl of Newton, L.G. Clay and wife and Mrs. McCarl of Marshalltown, and E.M. Clay of Grinnell.
