Faircloth President, Kellogg Historical Society, for providing the following obituary: Obituary 23 Feb 1934 Mrs. Minnie Wert Clay died at her home February 10 of heart trouble, at the age of 69 years. Mrs. Clay was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wert and grew to womanhood at Kellogg, Iowa, after which she married Charles Clay and moved on their farm near Newburg. Mrs. Clay was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wert and grew to womanhood at Kellogg, Iowa, after which she married Charles Clay and moved on their farm near Newburg. Later they moved into Gilman. Mrs. Clay went to California about twelve years ago, where she has resided ever since. Surviving relatives include three sons, Arthur of Michigan, Clifford of California, and Leslie of Gilman; one daughter Mrs. Maude Maxwell of San Francisco, California; one sister Mrs. Arthur Eaton of Newton; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her husband and two daughters, Grace and Edith preceded her in death. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church at Gilman in charge of Rev. R.H. Supplee. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery beside her husband and daughters.∼NOTE: The California Death Index 1905-1939 confirms that Minnie died in California and not in Iowa.
