EVA CHESNEY Mrs. Eva Chesney (known to us all as Grandma Chesney), was born in Racine, Wis., Jan. 8, 1852, and died Nov. 11, 1833, at the home of her son, A. P. Chesney, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 8 days. She resided in Racine until nineteen yean of age. Her father died in the army when she was nine year of ago and her mother followed in death two years later, leaving her an orphan at the ago of eleven. She lived with Mr. and Mrs. Buhl of Racine, until she was nineteen yean old, at which time she came to Beatrice, Nebraska, and made her home with her brother, James Benjamin, until she was married Sept, 23, 1876, to Emsly (sic) Chesney. To this union were born twelve children, six girls and six boys, four of whom died in childhood. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Chesney moved from Gage county (sic) to Jefferson county (sic), Nebraska, and from Jefferson county (sic) to Nuckolls county (sic) and near Superior in 1903, and she had resided in and around Superior until the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her going, eight children: Charles Chesney, Mrs. M. S. Young, Mrs. Hermon Blackstone, Prather Chesney, Thomas Chesney, Superior; Mrs. Barry Larson of Montrose, Kansas, O. C. Chesney of Formosa, Kansas; and A. W. Chesney of Greeley, Colorado; twenty-four grand children and seven great grandchildren; one brother, Bert Benjamin, Decatur, Michigan, and other relative and many, many friends. She Joined the Christian church in early childhood and united with the Baptist church after coming to Superior. She was kind, loving and thoughtful through life, and patient through all her suffering. She was loved by an who knew her. She made her home among her children, since her husband died Feb. 23, 1918. She left a ray of sunshine as she came and went among her children, and will be greatly missed by all. The funeral service was held at the Baptist church on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery (sic).
