Eva was born in Ottawa on Oct. 11, 1937 the daughter of Alva and Gladys Steirwalt Clark. She attended Chanute High School and Chanute Junior College. On June 18, 1958 she married Jimmy Grayson in Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1993. She was a homemaker and most recently was the hostess at Opie's. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the ELKS Lodge #806 in Chanute. She was a volunteer with several organizations including the Red Cross, Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, and The Humane Society. She also loved cooking, sewing, and dancing. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and having the entire family over for Sunday dinners. Eva is survived by children, Deborah Cummings and her husband, Keith, of Chanute, and James Grayson and fiancée Ashley of WaKeeney; three grandchildren, Brian Cummings of Bartlesville, Okla., Tiffany Cardoso of Humboldt, Cassie Grayson of Chanute; two great-grandchildren, Raylee Cummings of Bartlesville, Okla., and Landon Shelton of Iola; and one brother, Raymond Clark of Chanute. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Olive Dean Gregg, and one grandson, Michael Grayson. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today, Sept. 20 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to Castaways and may be left with the funeral home.
