Daughter of Thomas Turner Anderson and Huldah Ann Smith OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, October 13, 1955 EVA LOU RETTA MARKER Eva Lou Retta Anderson, was born in Warren county, Iowa, June 9, 1879, the daughter of Thomas and Hulda Anderson. Her early life was spent in Warren county. On Sept. 29, 1897, she was married to Charles Martin Marker. They established a home on a farm near Norwood where they resided until they moved to Chariton, where they have lived the past 12 years. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary eight years ago. To this union four children were born, George of Madras, Ore., Carl of Des Moines, Jerry of Holley, Ore., and Leota Peterson of Chariton. On June 27 she was stricken by a stroke and was taken to the Baker nursing home where she passed away three months and 10 days later. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and she leaves precious memories to those who knew and loved her. In her girlhood she attended the Belle Plain church and Sunday school. She leaves to mourn her passing her faithful husband, her children, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Joe Anderson of Chariton and Ed Anderson of Des Moines, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her father and mother, four sisters, Anna Benway, Myrtle Davidson, Lucretia and Jessie Anderson, one brother, Charles Anderson, one granddaughter, Lavonna Jean Peterson, a great-granddaughter, Darla Kay Lohner and a great-grandson, Herbert Lee Marker. Funeral services were held at the Miley chapel Monday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. and were conducted by the Rev. A. E. Beals. Interment was in the Fletcher cemetery at Norwood. Pallbearers were Don Marker, Herbert Marker, Kermit Marker, Bill Hiad, Gaylord Parrish and Dwaine Curtis. Obituary courtesy of Darlene Arnold, Lucas County Genealogical Society
