OBITUARY-MARGARET EVA BLANK BAUMAN The deceased, Margaret Eva Blank Bauman, was born in Baveria, Germany, Dec 4, 1831, and departed this life at Clarence, IA., Aug 17, 1915, aged at 83 years 8 months and 13 days. She came to the United States in 1869, and was married to John Bauman at Aurora, IL. In 1869 they moved to Clarence, IA. and settled on a farm. To them were given eight children, five of whom were boys and three were girls. One son Fred died July 8, 1897, while the rest survive her and are Leonard, Cushing, IA., Mrs. F. C. Oetting, Stanwood, IA., John, Clarence, IA., George, Independence, IA., Mrs. Wm Bachman, Lydia and Henry, Clarence, IA. Her husband died 18 years ago, since which time she made her home in Clarence, She had the honor of having 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Soon after her marriage she and her husband were converted in the German Methodist church of Aurora, IL., and became charter members of the same. She was a devoted wife, and fond and loving mother, a christian woman and a true friend. In late years on account of age she was deprived of attendance on the services of the churc, but her love and loyalty to Christ, never failed. All who know her loved her. She often expressed herself, when speaking of death, as being ready to go whenever her Lord might so desire. While she loved life she had no fear of death and lived resting in the promises of God. She will be greatly missed by her loving children and her many friends. Thus lived and departed the devoted wife, the loving mother and true christian woman and real friend mourened by all who knew her. "Thou art gone from us mother, on line's dreary waste. We wander alone it sorrows to taste; Thou hast left us forever, O, 'tis like a dream Too painfully true, so unreal to seem. Thou aret gone from us, mother, no more shall we hear The councels of wisdom or the accents of prayer, That fell from thy lips and in kindness were given, To lead us to God, to guide us to heaven. Thou are gone from us, mother, yes, in the cold grave Thou liest, and from it no power could save. For the angel of death hath demanded his prey, His victim thou wast, he took thee away. Thou art gone from us, mother, but happy the thought, No terrors to thee death's messenger brought, For even while the spirit was lingering here, The seraphim song had gladdened the ear. Thou art gone from us, mother, but death is defied To rob us of hope, since the Savior hath given, And looking to Him who salvation hath given, We'll meet the, dear mother, we'll meet thee in heaven. the funeral services were held at the home on Thursday at 2 o'clock. The Rev. S.S.Smith was assisted by Rev. Emil Hansen. Interment was in the clarence cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Teresa Heilman.
